The Hydra 15 9mm SD Upper Receiver is designed to deliver a compact, suppressed AR-9 setup without turning the system into something overly complicated or maintenance-heavy. Starting with the Hydra Quick-Change Barrel (QCB-D) upper, this configuration pairs a 9.5-inch 9mm blowback barrel with a permanently integrated suppressor to create a clean, streamlined package.

The suppressor itself is machined from a single piece of Inconel, chosen for its strength and ability to handle heat over extended use. Unlike sealed designs, the Hydra 15 9mm SD is user-serviceable, making cleaning straightforward and helping ensure long-term reliability. The suppressor is integral and non-removable, with no exposed threads or mounting points.

This upper uses a standard straight blowback system and is designed to work with common 9mm blowback bolt carrier groups, allowing users to run parts they already trust. It functions reliably with both subsonic and supersonic 9mm ammunition, without requiring adjustable gas systems or special tuning.

A proprietary Hydra M-LOK handguard is included and partially shrouds the suppressor, offering a comfortable grip, accessory mounting options, and a balanced overall profile. The exterior is finished in black Cerakote for durability and corrosion resistance.

Compatibility was a priority during development. The Hydra 15 9mm SD Upper works with standard AR-9 lowers as well as the Hydra 15 modular lower, supporting Glock, MP5, and Colt-pattern stick magazines. The system is also FRT compatible.
